The telepads are one of the primary methods of tansportation
in the city of Anduruna. They are built on the Sabbaton towers,
there is one telepad for every district. All day, the telepad
jumps from the Towers to the district and back again, transporting
dreamkeepers.
The way they operate is quite ingenious. It all starts with jumpers
(archituethus occipitus)- hovering creatures with an interesting
ability to teleport in order to escape predators. Jumpers have
a natural reaction to stress that zaps them instantly to a separate
location. The teleportation brings along any living material connected
to the creature, so no body parts get left behind in the process.
The jumpers are (with much difficulty) captured for use with the
telepads.
The telepads themselves are created from flo-wood. This means
that the pads are living organic material. The jumpers are taken
up and placed in a special case, right on the top of the telepad,
and connecting to the flo-wood structure. Their case is connected
to a lense, which focuses specifically on a receiving platform,
where the telepad is meant to go. (Each receiving platform has
a black and white disc on the front to help in making sure the
focus is very sharp and accurate). With the lense accurately focusing
the jumper's perceptions to that one destination, a mild shock
is run through it's case. It teleports, and brings with it all
the living material of the flo-wood telepad-and all the living
dreamkeepers in contact with the flo-wood. So the telepad arrives
at a distant platform, where a new jumper is placed into the case.
Jumpers must be rested for at least a day after every telepad
jump, because of the strain of bringing so much mass along for
the ride with them.
