Ryuu-nekos
Ryuu-nekos are a special breed of creature which inhabits the dreamworld. They are intelligent and quick. Most are very good natured, which makes them the most popular pets in Anduruna. However, their food intake must be controlled carefully. Their growth rate is directly proportionate to their diet, because of a unique metabolism. The more they eat, the bigger they will grow. They make the best pets when they are kept at a length of roughly 2-3 feet. Their maximum size in the wild can be well over 30 feet in length! At that point their physical appearance is very altered, with less fur and cuteness, and more ferocity. Full grown ryuu-nekos can be extremely dangerous. There are a lot of basic ryuu-neko types - some of them are listed below. It is a hobby for some in Anduruna to create unique ryuu-nekos by crossbreeding the types. This can lead to some very interesting results.
Water ryuu-nekos can store water in 2 large glands on either side of their neck, and squirt it out in a high pressure stream at will. When they are full grown, this stream is so powerful it can slice through stone. Water ryuu-nekos also have the ability to sense the nearest source of water, making them excellent companions in the desert.Waters are especially loving and empathetic towards their owners. They are among the most affectionate of the breeds.
Fire ryuu-nekos can take a lot of effort to tame even at a young age. They are very free spirited, tempermental, stubborn - and their tendency to spit jets of fire makes their care even more difficult. However, once their trust has been won over, they are the most loyal and protective of all the breeds. Their fierce devotion is coveted by any ryuu-neko enthusiast who cannot attain it.
Spark ryuu-nekos are the most hyperactive and energetic of all the breeds. They are unendingly curious, constantly sprinting about and poking their heads into things. They are incessantly intrigued by their owner's every move, and love to watch (and sometimes try to help with) their daily activities. As hyper as Sparks are, as soon as they tire, they will flop over exhausted for hours. When startled, their hair generates a strong static charge to shock enemies.
Plant ryuu-nekos are especially happy animals. They tend towards lighthearted playfulness with their owners. They are very eager to please, and make one of the best pets out of all the ryuu-nekos. Their fur is unique, and consists of velvety leaf-shapes that are extremely soft to the touch. Their saliva contains a special alloe with healing properties. Whenever their owner gets a scape or a bruise, the plant ryuu-neko can heal it with a kiss.
Rock ryuu-nekos are happily awkward things, very adventurous yet clumsy on the land. Under the earth, however, they are the masters of their environment. With their large digging claws, they can tunnel through the ground with ease. Although one of the least popular breeds because of their coloration, they are one of the most fun to have around the house. Watching them good-naturedly bumble around can provide hours of entertainment. Once you get to know them, they are extremely endearing.
Air ryuu-nekos are the rarest breed to be found in captiviy. If they don't want to be caught, they can move like quicksilver, and they seem to possess a special aptitude for sliding through nets and traps. Toying with hunters seems to give them some level of amusement. They are beautiful singers, able to compose melodies to suit the weather and their mood.
Mischevious, malevolent, and even harder to train than fire ryuu-nekos. Dark ryuu-nekos should never be kept as pets, due to their vicious nature. Nor can they be kept safely with other ryuu-neko breeds, as their dietary staple is cannibalism.
