The Margate District of the city includes most of the eastern
coastline. Harbors, dockyards, and fishing abound. One area in
particular is ill suited for coastal habitation, as it is totally
exposed to the open ocean - that's where Grunn decided to settle
and build an orphanage. Using spare lumber and the remains of
his ship, he constructed a haphazard collection of planks, somehow
recieved a permit for child care from the city, and now takes
in orphans from all over Anduruna. The orphans coincidentally
are of great assistance in helping Grunn with his side business,
bander fishing. Banders tend to avoid harbors and inlets, as they
spend most of their time in underwater rivers that traverse the
open ocean. They sometimes move in closer to the coast to feed,
and this is where Grunn has the orphans fish. Bander meat is tender
and considered a delicacy - despite it's flavor. But first the
banders must be removed from their slimy mucous shell. Oddly,
Grunn keeps the worthless shells from all the banders - although
what he does with them is anybody's guess. It's also a mystery
as to what he does with his lucrative bander profits. Rumor is
he hoards it like a treasure - but he certainly doesn't use it
to benefit the orphanage. In fact, the orphans bunk area doesn't
even have walls - it's canvas draped over some dock pylons.
